Jour Après Jour

2:43 minutes (1.25 MB)

Writing of mystery external appearances, it seems that I may have forgotten - some time ago - to mention a contribution I made to a Michel Polnareff ('60's French popster) tribute CD, on XIII bis records. I sang and recorded "Jour apres Jour". A slight effort, but good fun and certainly a challenge worth taking up to sing in French! Nick Cave & Pulp also feature on this release.

Now and Forever

"Il Sole Nella Pioggia" (The Sun in the Rain) is the 11th studio album by Italian singer-songwriter Alice, released in 1989 on EMI Music.
Il Sole Nella Pioggia closes with the English language track "Now and Forever", a duet with Peter Hammill who wrote the music and lyrics.

At first sight
helplessly falling,
all at once lighter than air;
feels just like I've known you always...
so now it starts,

Air

Ayuo Takahashi's CD "Songs from a Eurasian Journey" is out in Japan on Victor (VICG-60011). I sing on and wrote the lyrics for six of the the songs. This project of Ayuo's combines his own music with really early stuff, from as far back as the 7th Century. I'm particularly happy with the (closing) song "Air" which is itself a celebration of the enduring power of song - and of the humanity that binds us together - expressed over a Japanese melody from at least 1300 years ago. Other contributors to this disc include Dave Mattacks and Danny Thompson and it was mixed at Terra by David Lord.

Sea Of Memory

6:47 minutes (7.79 MB)

Premiata Forneria Marconi Live In Japan 2002 was released in both a 2 CD and DVD edition. The 2 CD edition contains 2 new studio tracks including a collaboration with Peter Hammill who wrote English lyrics and sings Sea of Memory.

The Sea of Memory
If only we remembered
as much as we forget....
The past’s a distant ocean
we can’t go back to yet.
We wait down in the valley
and till the soil by hand
feeling the weight of water
built up behind the dam.

Left and right, up and down, head over heels
that’s the only way that we know
