I read the news in a paper:
no flowers, please, donations to charity
like the N.S.P.C.V.d.G.G. -
yeh, send the money
to Guy and Hugh and David and me.
It's a joke,
there is no hope left,
oh, whoever might disagree.
Tell me juicy rumours,
dish me the dirt,
go on and rip the back right off my shirt.
Tell me how I hate Hugh Banton,
tell us that the bank account is zero
and that anyway there's non-one left to play to...
oh, well, there you go.
Are we ever going to get this act together on time?

Killer Born Man: Peter Hammill

How would you describe the Peter Hammill Fan v.2K8?
By now, thankfully, there's absolutely no archetype. Could be 16 or 70. Professor or punk. Fighter pilot or unreconstructed hippie. I think, though, the whole crowd are unified by a certain independence of mind and a capacity for (usually constructive) criticism of The Artist in Question.

Nutter Alert
6:05 minutes (8.36 MB)
It might come in a letter,
darkness falls in a telephone call;
I await the unexpected
with one ear to the party wall.
Is it the pricking of the conscience,
is it the itching of hair shirt,
is it the dictionary definition
of a precipice to skirt?
It's the nutter alert.
Though this face is familiar
something in it has bred contempt;
I never asked for your opinion
or your back-handed compliments.
Oh, but here comes that special nonsense
all the words out in a spurt,
the unhinging of the trolley
as the mouth begins to blurt...
it's the nutter alert
P. H. +VdG....the female audience?
Submitted by arnie mearns on Thu, 06/12/2008 - 13:52.Hi,I hope I have this is the appropriate place for the following, but here goes anyway.
I have been a fan of most things Hammill since mid/late 70's. I have introduced lots of people over the years following my own slow conversion.I have attended performances by PH in various incarnations. Ok this may not be like a Gallup survey, but those who respond positively to the music appear to be predominately male. Is this the result of myopia, chance, or whatever? I'm not saying no females respond positively, but it does seem to be a male audience in the main.
